Overview
In this article, we will detail the required steps needed to make, or assist with, resident credit card payments in ExpressPay. Resident payments in Express Pay can be made by the residents themselves, resident payors, or with assistance by community business office users.
Steps to Make a Resident Credit Card Payment
Step 1: After accessing the Express Pay application with the resident's information, users can select 'Pay Now' to enter in payment details. If recurring autopay payments have already been set up, those details will display to the right of the Pay Now button as pictured below.

Step 2: Next, payors will select either 'Single Payment' to make a payment with one payor, or they will select 'Split Payment' to make a payment with two payors. In this example, we'll select 'Single Payment'.

Step 3: Payors will then decide whether they are making an ACH Payment, Credit Card payment, or an eCheck Payment. In this article, we'll utilize a credit card Payment.

Step 4: Users can then use any previously saved credit card payment methods OR select +Add Card to use a new credit card payment method. In this article, we'll add a new card by select +Add Card.

Step 4: After selecting + Add Card, add the required information including the card number, expiration date, security code, and billing information (first name, last name, address, city, state, and postal code). Finally, select Add.

Step 5: After adding the new card, customize the payment amount if desired. By default, the payment amount will be set to pay the full resident balance, If a different amount is desired, unselect the Pay Balance checkbox and enter in the desired amount. Select Next.

Step 6: Next, payors must fill in their name and select the checkbox to acknowledge and authorize the community to take their payment from their provided payment method. Select Pay.
Please Note: A convenience fee, or credit card transaction fee, may appear (as pictured below). Credit card fees will automatically apply. Aline will configure the amount of the credit card processing fee, either as a percentage of the transaction amount or as a flat fee. Fees can be configured to be passed on to the payors, fees can be absorbed by the organization/community, or fees can be both partially passed to payors and partially absorbed by the organization/community.

Step 7: A confirmation box will display. The payment will also display in ExpressPay on the resident dashboard under Payment History and in Aline Payments on the resident profile under Past Payments. Select Close.
